Capture Nature’s Splendor with a Pictours Alpine Hiking & Photography Adventure!
I’m thrilled to announce the latest expansion project of Pictours Paris: Hiking & Photography Tours in the French Alps!!
Originally from Colorado, USA, I have been a mountain lover my whole life. For the last 13 years, my photography business has been based primarily in Paris. It has been so much fun and I love photographing clients around this amazing city…
But more recently, I’ve been drawn back to the call of the mountains. I am incredibly fortunate to now call a small village in the Savoie region of southeast France my second home.
So, it’s only natural to combine my love of photography with my love of the mountains! I am so excited to share this small, beautiful part of the world with you! Let’s spend the day hiking while you hone your photography skills and take beautiful landscape photos all along the way!
Pictours Alpine Adventures: A Full Day Guided Hike & Photography Tour!
With me as your hiking guide and photography mentor, you will revel in a full day spent exploring this idyllic area of the Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France, and have a collection of beautifully shot landscape photos. We will walk, talk, learn, and soak in our beautiful surroundings.
Are you an avid hiker with a passion for photography? Or perhaps you’re looking for a new adventure that combines the best of both worlds? We are thrilled to announce our brand-new Hiking and Photography Day Tour in the heart of the French Alps! Our carefully selected hiking trails take you through some of the most picturesque landscapes in the Savoie, with breathtaking views all along the way. Each trail offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and explore its wonders. We will start and end in a small farm village near Moutiers, and hike to the summit of Mont-Jovet.

I’ve been a professional photographer for over 13 years, and have been an avid nature lover/hiker my whole life! I will share valuable tips and techniques on capturing the perfect shot, ensuring you make the most of your photographic journey.
3. Capture Stunning Photographs
Imagine standing at the summit, overlooking the valley below. With guidance, you’ll learn how to frame such views perfectly and capture the essence of the landscape in your photographs.
4. Enjoy a Day of Adventure and Tranquility
Our day tour is designed to be both challenging and enjoyable. You’ll get a great workout while hiking, but you’ll also have plenty of time to soak in the scenery and take photographs. It’s the perfect balance of adventure and tranquility.
What to Expect on the Hike/Photo Tour
Our day tour is packed with exciting activities and breathtaking sights. Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect:
- Morning Meet-up: We start early to make the most of the day. After a brief introduction and safety briefing over coffee and juice, we’ll begin the hike from our small village home (elevation of 1260 m / 4134 feet). We are often joined by one or more of our local village dogs (and my sporty yorkie, Charlie), so if you are a dog lover, that is a bonus. 🙂
- Scenic Hike: As we trek through diverse terrains, I will point out interesting features and offer photography tips!
- Photography: We’ll have designated stops at key locations, giving you ample time to set up your shots and experiment with different techniques.
- Lunch Break: Enjoy lunch at the mountainside refuge, surrounded by nature’s beauty. It’s the perfect time to relax, refuel, share photography insights, or ask questions.
- Summit! We will reach the summit shortly after our lunch break, at an elevation of 2558 meters / 8392 feet! From here is where you will discover one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Mont Blanc, les Ecrins, le Cervin, les Dômes de la Vanoise and le Beaufortain!!
- Afternoon Descent/Apéro/Wrap-up: We will then leisurely descend back to the village, where we will have a quick debriefing from the day with cold drinks and light snacks (apéro).
Please note: The entire hike/photo tour will take (on average) 8-10 hours. For less experienced hikers we can plan a shorter day hike with a picnic lunch included. Also, the summit might not be reachable in bad weather, so we always remain flexible. Regardless of a summit or not, it will be a day well spent of hiking, exploration and learning about photography.
Gear Up for the Adventure
This day tour is for experienced hikers of good fitness levels. We will be walking for 8-10 hours, and there is no fast way home. 🙂 To make the most of this wonderful experience, we recommend you bring the following:
- Comfortable Hiking Shoes : Ensure you have sturdy, well-fitting (and already worn in!) shoes suitable for various terrains. Do not bring brand new/unworn hiking shoes.
- Photography Equipment: Bring your camera, a lens or two, tripod (not necessary), and any other gear you want. Don’t forget extra batteries, and only bring as much equipment that you can comfortably carry all day long! A simple camera body and 35mm or kit zoom lens works well.
- Weather-appropriate Clothing: Dress in layers and be prepared for changing weather conditions.
- Backpack with Essentials: Water, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, and any personal items you might need. You do not need any cash, unless you want to tip at the end of the day. 🙂
